fight fight fight.
“i train by doing roundhouse kicks into trees without any padding. it gets me ready for combat.” is what i was told somewhere in the 9 AM hour today. thankfully that was followed by “you’re doing great. this is your 4th time training? i’m impressed.” after a long long time, i’ve finally taken up boxing. now. i can run for hours, and lift heavy for days, but NOTHING i’ve done has been as hard as sparring three 3 minute rounds in a row. it’s been 16 hours and my right hand still shakes uncontrollably and my calves are on fire. but i’m cool. because tomorrow i go get a remicaid treatment, marking one year of actual remission for me. after my ulcerative colitis diagnosis in november ‘99, and 9 subsequent years of a very active illness and a shitty quality of life, this last year has been incredible. and i’ve decided to train for a half marathon. in hawaii. in june. with all funds raised going to the chrons and colitis foundation of america. sharoni and i are still working on officializing our non-profit - and we’ll be updating you about that here. until then, i’m running a half marathon. in hawaii. in june. http://www.active.com/donate/kona09nyc/kerinrose
